HORACE CARTER MUSEUM

The Horace Carter Museum is located at the Tabor-Loris Tribune newspaper offices this museum displays the history of the town of Tabor City through the eyes of the Town’s Pulitzer Prize winner, Horace Carter. Horace Carter founded the newspaper back in the 1940s. Come see the equipment used to produce this weekly paper and see the office where this famed author wrote. Coming soon: the original location of where The Tribune newspaper first began!!!

Mt Tabor School circa 1870 - Old School

MT. TABOR CITY SCHOOL HOUSE

A circa 1870 One Room School House was restored by the historical society of Tabor City and Columbus County. This facility was purchased and donated to the Town of Tabor City by Richard Wright. Come and relive the old days when life “was simple and oh so mellow”.

THE TABOR CITY FREIGHT DEPOT

The Tabor City Freight Depot is located behind Main and Fourth Streets.

The depot maintains several artifacts depicting the days when the railroad was an integral part of the daily living in town. Come see a replica of the town in the early 1900s as well as pictures of prominent citizens who led the town to its present growth.

GRAPEFULL SISTERS VINEYARDS AND B&B

The Inn d’ Vine B&B resembles an old tobacco barn from years gone by with a large wrap around porch. The vineyards specialize in the muscadine grape. There are three guest rooms and baths equipped with European style sauna steam showers.

LAKE TABOR

This 100+ acre recreational lake is complete with a bait and tackle shop, piers, boat launches, picnic areas and ball fields. Bass tournaments are held monthly.

MAZE CRAZE

Each year Maze Craze, the Southeast NC’s largest corn maze located at Galloway Farm in Hallsboro. Fall Festival, Christmas, Easter and other events. It is also a field trip destination.

Tabor City Visitor Center

TABOR CITY VISITOR’S CENTER

Occupied in December 2006 this North Carolina Visitor Center provides travelers a place to rest and obtain information and brochures about Columbus County, Tabor City, and the state of North Carolina. Located at the corner of Fifth Street and Pireway Road this former gas station was converted into a modern and aesthetically pleasing facility. Information relating to Matthew 25 and the Tabor City Correctional Facility  can also be obtained at the center

TABOR CITY CENTENNIAL CARILLON CLOCK MEMORIAL

Located in downtown Tabor City at the corner of 5th Street and Hickman Road, the Centennial Clock was given by Jimmy Garrell and Joe Garrell in honor of their parents B. Alton Garrell and Doris Woodard Garrell to commemorate Tabor City’s 100th birthday.

TABOR CITY FREEDOM FLAG TRILOGY

Located near Lake Tabor at the northern entrance of Tabor City, the flag trilogy was given by Joseph Garrell and Elizabeth Garrell in honor of their father Joe Garrell and their grandparents and great-grandparents. The flag trilogy features the United States flag, the North Carolina flag and the Tabor City Centennial Flag.
